The wild beauty of Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada drew me to California in 1981. Especially ancient trees and wilderness landscapes continue to provide me with infinite inspiration. I had learned the art of etching at the Art Academy in Brunswick, Germany. I started out with black and white intaglio, like generations of printmakers before me .But I soon started hand-coloring almost all prints of an edition. This work makes each impression unique and is noted with e.v. or "edition varies" after the edition number. My personal printer's mark is printed as an embossing on each piece, the mat or both. It is derived from the family crest and depicts hops for beer brewing.
